Clifton Court Docket Searches
Start with the exact court named on the paper. Clifton Municipal Court handles town ordinance matters and traffic cases. It also takes eligible state-law misdemeanors inside town jurisdiction. Greenlee County Justice Court Precinct 1 is usually called Clifton Justice Court or JP1. It handles state-law limited cases for its precinct. A citation issued in Clifton does not name the court by place alone. Search the official Arizona Public Access case system once you pass its random-word verification. Use the exact citation or case number if you have one. Otherwise, search the filed name and narrow results to the Clifton court on the paper. Open the detailed history, not just the result row.
- Read the court box on the citation, notice, or case paper.
- Pass Public Access verification and search the exact Clifton case number or filed name.
- Confirm that the result names Clifton Municipal Court or Clifton Justice Court.
- Read the charge, event history, newest setting, status, and disposition separately.
- Call the creating Clifton court to confirm the setting or request the official record.
Public Access refreshes weekly. Friday data generally reflects filings through Wednesday. A filed notice, a signed minute entry, or direct confirmation from the court outranks a stale portal line, especially with an appearance date close by.
Two Distinct Clifton Court Dockets
Clifton Municipal Court and JP1 sit in the same local court system, but their dockets are not interchangeable. Municipal Court keeps cases created under Clifton authority and eligible state-law work within town limits. JP1 holds misdemeanors, civil and criminal traffic, small claims, evictions, protective-order matters, limited civil cases, and preliminary felony work assigned to its precinct.
| Question | Clifton Municipal | Clifton Justice / JP1 |
|---|---|---|
| Common source | Town ordinance or eligible town case | State-law precinct case |
| Record contact | 928-865-4156 | 928-865-4312 |
| Online gap | Local ordinance cases are excluded | Participating state cases may appear |
| Best routing fact | Use the exact court name printed on the case paper | |
The same distinction protects your wallet. Clifton offers no official standalone citation or payment portal, so check with the named court first. Ask which response and payment routes it accepts before sending any funds.
Inside the Clifton Municipal Court
Clifton Municipal Court is the town-level court. It covers ordinance violations, traffic, and eligible misdemeanors within its jurisdiction. The official Greenlee electronic-hearing directory currently lists Judge Wyatt Palmer and the court number 928-865-4156. It also lists Clifton Justice Court Judge Grace Nabor at 928-865-4312. Superior Court appears at 928-865-3872. Assignments can change. Recheck the directory whenever the judicial officer's name matters. Call the Municipal Court for the case number, current setting, response deadline, plea or contest method, record inspection, and copy charges. Ask each as a separate question. Staff can share procedural and scheduling facts, not legal advice. If the paper names JP1 instead, use the Justice Court number. Do not assume the Municipal clerk can pull that record.

Historical Clifton Court Docket Mix
Official FY2019 statistics put Clifton Municipal Court in historical scale. The court reported 581 terminations against a seven-year average of 556. Those figures cover one fiscal year only. Traffic dominated the mix. Misdemeanor and protective civil work was also present. They are not a current caseload forecast, a fine schedule, or a statement about any person.
The same Clifton report listed 17 parking matters, 11 civil-traffic entries in another row, and two injunctions against harassment. Category names matter here. Civil traffic, serious criminal traffic, and other criminal traffic are separate docket classes, not different labels for one event.
Finding Clifton Court Dates
A Clifton court setting can appear in the Public Access history with the court, date, time, judicial officer, event type, and status. Read the later entries before relying on it. A continuance or reset does not erase the old event. A motion asking for more time does not cancel a date either, unless the court acts on it.
| Date | The scheduled day shown on the newest valid notice or court entry. |
|---|---|
| Time | The appearance time, which should be confirmed directly when urgent. |
| Court | Clifton Municipal, Clifton Justice / JP1, or Greenlee Superior Court. |
| Judicial officer | The assigned judge shown for the setting; assignments can change. |
| Setting type | Arraignment, pretrial, contested hearing, trial, sentencing, or review. |
Remote Clifton proceedings require instructions from the court itself. The electronic-hearing directory is a contact page, not a permanent meeting link or a date calendar. Call the assigned Clifton court. Ask for the link, the appearance mode, the check-in rule, and the current time. Note: A Friday statewide refresh that reflects Wednesday data is too slow to resolve a same-day Clifton court date or a changed appearance mode.
Missing Clifton Ordinance Docket Results
Arizona Public Access expressly excludes local ordinance charges. A Clifton Municipal case based on town code can be absent even with an active docket. A "not found" result can mean several things. It can be the wrong court, a spelling error, an old file, an update lag, a sealed record, or another restricted category. If the citation names Clifton Municipal Court and the statewide search comes up blank, call 928-865-4156. Give the exact Clifton citation or case number. Give the filed name too. Ask staff to confirm the record number, next setting, response deadline, inspection method, and current copy fee. Skip requests for confidential information.
Search gap: An empty statewide result does not prove that Clifton Municipal Court has no ordinance case.
Clifton Traffic Ticket Lookups
Check the court box on the citation first. A Clifton traffic ticket may be filed in Municipal Court or JP1, and picking the wrong docket wastes time. The Public Access portal shows state-law civil and criminal traffic cases from participating courts. Local ordinance charges never show up there. Updates run weekly. So the portal alone is a poor way to track a response date that is close. Read the citation, then search or pay.
Clifton posts no single fine schedule, deadline, or payment rule that covers every case. The amount and due date depend on the citation and the court named on it. Call that court before the date arrives. Ask what responses it accepts, the current amount, and whether payment can go online, by mail, by phone, or in person. Payment can count as a plea. To fight the ticket, follow the court's hearing-request steps instead of simply not paying.
For the full picture, the county-wide Greenlee County Traffic Court reference maps how citations move among Municipal Court, JP1, and JP2, and it separates the court's case file from the Arizona Motor Vehicle Division driving record.
Clifton Courts and Order 2006-42
Order 2006-42 concerns Greenlee County Justice Court No. 1 and Clifton Municipal Court, and it replaced a 1997 order. You can find it through the Arizona Supreme Court administrative-order index.
The index proves an administrative link exists. It proves nothing else. It does not mean the two Clifton court records can be swapped. It does not mean one phone line covers both. It does not mean a citation can be paid at either window. The name printed on your ticket is still the best guide for where the case belongs.
That long Clifton relationship does explain why public directories sometimes show near-identical labels. Even so, each court keeps its own jurisdiction and its own case files.
How Clifton Cases Reach the County
Felonies and general-jurisdiction civil cases start in Greenlee Superior Court, not Clifton Municipal Court. JP1 can handle preliminary felony proceedings. The full prosecution then moves up to Superior Court. An authorized appeal out of Clifton Municipal Court or JP1 also opens a Superior Court record. The lower court keeps its original file. One incident can thus leave a docket trail in two courts.
Docket flow: Clifton Municipal Court or JP1 › Greenlee Superior Court › Arizona Court of Appeals › Arizona Supreme Court
The official source for state appellate jurisdiction is A.R.S. §12-120.21.
Keep the lower case number handy. An appeal may reach a higher Clifton-related record. Search only the Superior or appellate docket and the original citation stays hidden. Search only the lower file and the result above it stays hidden. Carry both numbers.
A federal case involving Clifton runs on a separate system entirely. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals serves as the federal appellate court for Arizona.
That federal route does not replace Arizona's appeal path for an ordinary Clifton Municipal or Clifton Justice Court case. Federal and state dockets use different systems and different case numbers.
Two Clifton Court Address Listings
Official Greenlee pages list two Fifth Street locations, and they are not the same building. The Clerk page puts the counter at 223 5th Street, Clifton, AZ 85533, with mail to P.O. Box 1027. The phone is 928-865-4242. The county directory gives 253 5th Street, Clifton, AZ 85533 for the government and Superior Court complex. Superior Court there is 928-865-3872. Keep both, but keep them apart.
The official elected clerk page describes Greenlee Clerk services and payments.
The clerk's page covers Superior Court services. It does not make that Clifton counter the home of Municipal or JP1 records. Call ahead and ask which address handles your specific docket, copy, payment, or hearing need.
Clifton Court eFiling Changed in 2026
Clifton e-filing has a firm date. The statewide limited-jurisdiction matrix shows Greenlee implementing Justice Court civil, eviction, and small-claims electronic filing on March 30, 2026, both at initiation and after. That reaches JP1 filing work in Clifton. It does not add those case types at Municipal Court or open any new Clifton public-record portal.
Filing is not viewing. A Clifton document sent through eFileAZ need not appear as an image in Public Access, and the Friday-to-Wednesday update lag still applies. eAccess carries post-2010 Superior Court civil and criminal coverage only, not general Justice or Municipal documents.
Ask JP1 how to submit an eligible filing. Ask the record custodian separately how to inspect or copy a Clifton court record. Keeping those tasks apart stops a filing account from being mistaken for a public search tool.
Who Can See Clifton Court Records
Arizona Supreme Court Rule 123 governs judicial records across Municipal, Justice, Superior, and appellate courts. It separates case records from administrative ones. It also sets rules for remote access. Beyond that, it marks what counts as confidential. A record missing online may still be open for inspection through the court that keeps it.
Public Access leaves some things out. Sealed cases, Orders of Protection, mental-health and probate matters, victim and witness data, specified juvenile matters, and local ordinance charges stay off it. When you request a Clifton record, name the right court first. Then give the exact case number, the document or event title, the date range, and the format you want. Ask about the fee too. Superior Court's published fee labels do not carry over to Clifton Municipal Court or JP1 without confirmation.
Key rules:
Arizona Supreme Court Rule 123 supplies the court-record access and denial-review framework.
A.R.S. §22-402 provides municipal-court establishment and jurisdiction context.
The Clifton court that created the case is the official source. Staff can confirm process, settings, inspection, and copies, but they cannot tell a party what legal choice to make.
